Our Skin

Skin is our largest organ of the body and a crucial part of several bodily functions. Sweat glands in the skin also play active roles in the excretory system, or the organs and glands that flush out toxins and excess minerals from the body.

The epidermis, the outermost layer of skin, provides a waterproof barrier and creates our skin tone. Skin protects us from microbes and the elements, helps regulate body temperature, and permits the sensations of touch, heat, and cold.
